A Detailed Business Analysis of Maloneytown Office Supplies

Our team of analysts created a state of the business report for a company called Maloneytown Office Supplies. We studied three business categories from 2012-2015: Office Supplies, Furniture, Technology. The company showed steady growth in volume and positive revenue three of the four years.

The team started by looking at trends in volume and value. We determined there was significant growth in volume and value between 2014 and 2015. The company sold over 12,000 units and revenue reached the four-year-high of over $920,000 in 2015.

Although it had less revenue growth in 2015 than in 2014, Technology remained the highest dollar margin category. We looked at its subcategories and found that the Copiers subcategory had 17% growth from 2014 to 2015. This was also slower growth than the previous year.

Within the Copiers subcategory, we noted that New York made up 28% of the company’s Copier product share. Over 78% of total revenues were from Canon Image CLASS 2200 Copiers.

We also examined the rest of the line of Canon Image CLASS Copiers as a group. This line has five products and only nine states carried all five. The BDI for these Canon products is around 20% for Pennsylvania and Florida, making those states good opportunities for introducing the entire line.

We concluded that the company showed growth for the years 2012-2014. Technology was the highest dollar margin category. This category contains high-margin products. New York drives a lot of the Copier subcategory revenue, and there is an opportunity to carry the full line of Canon Image CLASS products in Pennsylvania and Florida.
